Theodore R. Weeks jest profesorem historii na Uniwersytecie Południowego Illinois w Carbondale, gdzie prowadzi zajęcia z zakresu historii świata nowożytnego, historii Europy i Rosji. Wykłada również w Kolegium Europejskim w Natolinie (Warszawa).
Do jego najważniejszych publikacji należą: Nation and State in Late Imperial Russia: Nationalism and Russification on the Western Frontier, 1863–1914 (1996), From Assimilation to Antisemitism: the “Jewish Question” in Poland, 1850–1914 (2006) oraz Vilnius between Nations 1795–2000 (2015).
Jego zainteresowania badawcze obejmują nacjonalizm, relacje etniczne, antysemityzm, a ostatnio także historię technologii. Obecnie pracuje nad książką poświęconą historii radia w międzywojennej Polsce (1920–1939).
